Madison’s Annual Premier Gala to Prevent Child Abuse & End Violence
Madison’s boldest dance event of the year
Rhumba 4 Rainbow is The Rainbow Project’s signature annual fundraising gala—a vibrant night of salsa music, dance, and community celebration that directly supports young children and families healing from trauma. Once a year, Madison pulses to the rhythm of hope. Rhumba 4 Rainbow is a diverse and vibrant event for our community, to help children and families rise from life’s darkest shadows into healing and resilience. It’s more than a gala—it’s a celebration of community, culture, and the power of compassion in motion.
Started in 2004 by Sharyl Kato, The Rainbow Project’s Founder & Executive Director, Rhumba grew from her love of salsa dancing and her deep commitment to children’s resilience. Today, it’s one of Dane County’s most joyful traditions. More than 700 guests gather each year!
The evening’s signature programming includes:
Latin floorshow performances by acclaimed salsa artists
Open salsa contest with cash prizes
Curated silent auction featuring art and experiences
Extra Mile Awards honoring community champions
Live music and social dancing throughout the night
Fashion moments and joyful surprises
