Nigel’s Story

Nigel, Gaelic origin meaning “champion,” Latin meaning “dark”

Nigel is a 14-year-old adopted teen. He dealt with severe school avoidance and sleep problems during the pandemic.

Persistent advocacy and multidisciplinary care led to a sleep apnea diagnosis and affordable CPAP treatment, greatly improving his health and enabling him to thrive as a mentor and self-advocate. With the support of his parents, CCS, and Rainbow Project therapists, he built routines and finally received medication for sleep regulation.

Resilience and community support helps teens like Nigel overcome barriers to education and health. With your generosity, Nigel not only re-engaged in school and became a mentor to others but also gained access to life-changing treatment—transforming his future.
